Welcome to the Pharmacy Residency
Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network’s (LVHHN) post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency prepares our graduates to practice as clinical staff or clinical specialists, to serve as faculty for a college of pharmacy, to assume an entry level hospital management role or to pursue second year post-graduate training. LVHHN has three campuses in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pa., with more than 1,000 patient beds and a medical staff of 1,300 physicians. Residents engage in a variety of pharmaceutical care activities with the support of state-of-the-art pharmaceutical technology. These include two dispensing robots, automated dispensing cabinets, a fully-integrated and well-established electronic medical record system with bedside bar-coding, as well as a seasoned computer-assisted prescriber order entry system. The 12-month program provides residents with a well-rounded training experience. Residents have the opportunity to further develop clinical and leadership skills and explore the many facets of hospital pharmacy practice. The five core rotations and three elective rotations consist of five-week learning experiences. The required longitudinal experiences occur over the course of the entire year. The Lehigh Valley Hospital Pharmacy Department has a staff of more than 130, including clinical staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists, technicians, a medication safety officer, and two pharmacy systems specialists to provide advanced pharmaceutical care for our patients. |
